Your record inside the vendor's terms

Who owns CRM data? What the vendors' terms say, clause by clause

Most CRM vendors write that the record belongs to the company; several also keep a licence to an anonymised version, and that licence is what a buyer asks about.

Ask about my CRM data Which CRM, how many years of deals and activity, and whether the company is trading, closing or being sold. We read it against the vendor terms and contact-data law here and reply in writing.

The record stays the company's

Insightly says you own your CRM Data, Copper that the customer reserves all of them, and Capsule that you retain sole ownership of your Customer Data. 13 of the 20 vendors on our board say so in a document we read.

The anonymised copy

Capsule takes a perpetual right to use Customer Data in an anonymised format, Copper may aggregate and anonymise service data and share it with third parties, and monday.com says it owns all anonymous information it collects. Insightly and Vtiger go the other way and limit their use of the record to providing the service.
